What are solar panels?     In simple terms solar panels are a collection of photovoltaic cells that absorb sunlight as a source of energy to generate electricity.The cells are generally arranged in a grid like structure mounted on a supporting structure which helps them garner maximum surface area. Each PV cells are basically sandwich of two slices of silicon which have great semiconducting properties. In simple terms to work a PV cells requires to establish an electric field. A basic science tour describes that an electric field is generated when two opposite electric charges are separated. The use of differential materials like phosphorus and boron on each of the silicon layers helps to add extra electron at the junction of the siliconlayers.
